Very nice video, made with type and other new software, perhaps After Effects, but not sure, that tells you a story just with type and our understanding of things.

Today I met this very nice quiz, from Ilene Strizver’s newsletter, from another type related site/blog and I would like to share it with you. It is about knowing the differences, or better yet, spotting the differences between Arial and Helvetica, two of the most know typefaces in the world. The designer did a different version of 20 well-known Helvetica logos into an Arial version. Can you notice the original one too? I must say, I lost against my girlfriend. She got ALL the 20 questions correct. I only got 17… Eheheh! Nice for her, though, because she doesn’t like type that much, or as much as I do. Amazingly, quite a nice eye for detail!

Hoje deparei-me com este questionário engraçado, da newsletter de Ilene Strizver, de um outro site/blog sobre tipografia e que eu gostaria de partilhar convosco. É sobre as diferenças, ou melhor ainda, entre descobrir as diferenças entre Arial e Helvética, duas das fontes mais conhecidas no mundo. O designer fez uma versão diferente de 20 logos muito conhecidos em versão Arial. Também consegue perceber qual o original? Devo dizer, perdi contra a minha namorada. I have seen a plant, imagine that, that as a blog. The funny about it is that it (or she) «writes» the blog on her own. The question here should be, «how should it look is (her) handwriting?».

Vi uma planta, imaginem, que tem um blog. O engraçado disto é que ela «escreve» o blog por ela mesma. A questão aqui devia ser, «a que se parece a sua escrita à mão?».

Mean while, after a long period, I think that I am back. I think because I writing this now. I don´t really know if I will be able to keep up. But, since that, I have a sort of goodie for you. ITC Fonts are giving, in PDF files, some Type Trading Cards. The link is:

You have to select the card on the right, open it, then, save the front and the back files, at the top right.
And I feel confident that you will like them. They have a sample phrase on one side and trivia in the other, at the back. Quite nice. As long as I learn how to place some files of my own here, you will be given some more files that I have of my own, and some other goodies that I might find.

Entreanto, depois de um longo periodo, penso que estou de volta. Penso porque estou a escrever isto agora. Não sei realmente se serei capaz de manter. Mas, depois disto, tenho uma espécie de “bombom” para vocês. O site ITC Fonts está a dar, em ficheiros PDF, alguns Type Trading Cards, Cartões de troca de tipografia, um pouco ao género dos popularizados por jogos como Magic, the gathering. O link é:
